Webinar Description

Women in the perinatal period are identified at an at risk, vulnerable population, with increased risk factors for anxiety and depression. Layer on the  reality of what postpartum parenting looks like when older children are home, or the lack of support and available physical help and respite usually available to women and their families, there is increased levels of concern about the evolving needs and challenges in this patient population. This workshop will explore the current trends that the perinatal population is experiencing, including access to prenatal care, family support, and extensive losses related to the process being completely different than planned.  We can only anticipate the impact of a new kind of birth trauma as women are isolated and missing the resources that have been historically deemed essential. Participants will be able to identify the risk factors at play, general review of caring for the perinatal populations' mental health needs, and gain a deeper understanding about the ongoing and future needs of this population.
