Sex Addiction continues to be a challenge for clinicians and agencies as it is often misunderstood and avoided. Even within the addiction treatment field, this particular challenge is subtlety avoided and dismissed due to individual and institutional discomfort and a lack of training. Their is a need for basic clinical desensitization in learning the "nuts and bolts" of what sexual addiction is and de-mystifying its treatment.

Areas of focus will include:

- a definition of sex addiction

-components that create different challenges than other addictions in motivating someone to engage in treatment

- variables that potentiate individuals to gravitate to sexual acting out: attachment styles that precipitate sexual addiction

-the 3 As: reasons why prevalence of pornography has increased

-the 10 Arousal templates

-the role of shame in sexual addiction

-types of treatment

-the role and types of 12 step meetings in sex addiction recovery

-goals and the meaning of "abstinence" in treatment and recovery

-the pros and cons of Full Disclosure in treatment of a couple
